Windows Vista & Roaming Profiles

To prevent compatibility issues with Windows NT, 2000 and XP, Windows Vista stores it's roaming profiles in a slightly altered location to previous versions of Windows.

Windows Vista add's a '.v2' extension to the profile path provided by the domain controller.

For example, if I log into my machine, my Windows XP profile is located at '\\server\profiles\savage', and a new directory needs to be added for Vista as '\\server\profiles\savage.v2'.

Linux/Unix File Servers

This isn't recommended, by I'll point this out anyway. If you are using a Linux/Unix file server, you can symbolically link the two directories to share a profile across XP and Vista.

This could royally screw up your roaming profile. Personally the only glitch I noticed was when going back to XP from Vista, that all the colour schemes went mad.
