Remove the 'Send feedback' Titlebar Link in Windows 7 Beta

Image showing the 'send feedback' link in Windows 7 beta dialog titlesAs with all beta versions of Windows, Microsoft include a link to 'send feedback' in the titlebar of every dialog. While this link allows you to send specific application feedback to Microsoft, when I'm using beta software, I don't want to be constantly reminded of that as I tend to tip-toe around being more careful than I would with a final release.

I see this as ultimately bad as it means I'm less likely to cause problems with the beta software, and those problems could then make it into the final release. So if like me, you want to remove the 'send feedback' link from dialogs, you need to edit the Registry.

Registry File

I've provided a Registry file to disable the 'send feedback' link, you can download it here.

Just double click it, log out and back in and the links will be removed. The settings are per-user, so you will need to run it on all user accounts you want to remove the link from.

Manual Removal

If you want to do it manually, here's how:

  1. Click 'Start' and enter 'regedit' into the search box
  2. Browse to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
  3. Locate the string 'FeedbackToolEnabled', double click it, and set it's value to 0
  4. Click 'OK', exit the Registry Editor, log off and back on for the changes to take effect
