SavageReactor Server Relocation
I'm moving to Bradford on the 1st of July. Originally this was a big problem for SavageReactor as the site is hosted from my own server at home, and obviously moving location will involve moving the server as well as getting a fresh Internet connection.
I need to throw out a big thank you to Mr Glass, as he's agreed to him hosting SavageReactor from his server temporarily while I'm moving mine and awaiting my Internet connection.
If you use services provided by my server, please read the "Relocation Effects" below to see how you will be affected by the server relocation, a schedule is provided below, but is subject to change.
Relocation Schedule:
- 29/06/2006: The savagereactor.co.uk domain will be redirected to Glass' server, this gives us a day to confirm domain relocation is working.
- 01/07/2006: I move to the new premises with my server and await the Internet connection to become active.
- up to 14/07/2006 hopefully: The savagereactor.co.uk domain will be redirected back to my server, all services will return to normal.
Relocation Effects
Only the SavageReactor web site is being transferred to Glass' server, all other services provided by SavageReactor will become unavailable for a short period. The following services will not be running for up to two weeks starting from the 29th June 2006:
- E-Mail
Any e-mail address that ends in "@savagereactor.co.uk"
will become unavailable, e-mails sent to these addresses will fail and be returned to sender until my server resumes control of the domain. If you have such an address, make sure you give people plenty of notice.
- FTP Access
FTP access to user accounts and sub-sites will become unavailable.
- Sub-sites
Any sub-sites of SavageReactor will become unavailable, including: mmdb.savagereactor.co.uk, webmail.savagereactor.co.uk, uni.savagereactor.co.uk.
- User Sites
User sites, those ones you find in the /~username location will become unavailable as these user accounts will not be present on Glass' server.
